How to Choose Wallpaper
There are so many choices now when it comes to wallpaper. How to choose? I’ve got you covered.
First, decide which room you want to wallpaper. Grasscloth and specialty wallpapers are fine in Dining Rooms and Bedrooms, but you may not want them in high traffic areas. If it’s Hallways or Children’s Rooms or Bathrooms, consider type II which has a water resistant finish and can be scrubbed. Heavy matte wallpaper is also fine in Hallways, Bedrooms and Bathrooms with good ventilation.
Next, consider the vibe you want for that room. Is it traditional or playful? Coastal or Boho? Floral and romantic or more tailored? Do you want more color or more of a texture? Along the same lines is scale. Using a too-small scale wallpaper in a large space can get lost. Using a large scale wallpaper in a small space though can be fantastic. Powder Rooms are a great place to wrap the room in a big scale.
Then think about color and how the wallpaper will work into your overall room scheme. Maybe you have a favorite color. Look to your wardrobe to see what color you the most of. Or maybe you want to pull out a color from an existing furniture piece or rug. Don’t forget to think about adjacent rooms and how one space will flow to another, especially if you can see one room from another.
But most of all, have fun! pick something you absolutely love and it will work.
