The Fifth Wall

Eddy_Earl Grey_Ceiling.jpg

Flat white is no longer the only option for ceilings. Think of the ceiling as the fifth wall - just another surface to consider in the overall scheme. Tinted paint and high gloss paint are good options but of course wallpaper is my favorite option for a ceiling. Just like on the wall, you can add drama or just quiet interest depending on the pattern, scale and color.

Wallpapering the ‘fifth wall’ is a great way to add interest, texture and pattern to a room. Eddy in Earl Gray adds warmth and personality to this traditional Entry (above). A plain white ceiling would have made the space feel a little sterile.

Running Tide in Golden Hour (above) creates interest on the ceiling but also helps define the Kitchen area in an open space. Just like an area rug, this wallpaper helps create a focus on the gathering space at the Kitchen Island. By creating the feeling of texture in an otherwise white space, you make this area special.

Pale pink Cowrie wallpaper (left) adds the perfect touch to this airy Bedroom and it gives a balance to the space that a white ceiling can’t. Bedroom ceilings are a great place to use wallpaper. What would you rather stare at when in bed - a blank space or something pretty?

Keep looking up.
